SCOPE Hosts Global Delegation on Gender Parity in the World of Work Ahead of International Women’s Day

One of the key initiatives discussed was the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), a nationwide platform with over 16,000 members working to strengthen the role of women professionals in PSUs

In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) hosted a high-level interactive session on “Gender Issues in the World of Work.” The session was addressed by Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE and Member of the Governing Board of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The session, organised in collaboration with the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, welcomed a multi-disciplinary international delegation from 11 countries. The delegation included representatives from the Parliament of Tanzania, the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, and police forces from Fiji and Liberia.

The visiting delegates are in India to study the country’s model of inclusive development and efforts to promote gender parity in workplaces, particularly within the public sector.

As the apex body representing India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), SCOPE highlighted its global engagement and initiatives promoting gender inclusivity. One of the key initiatives discussed was the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), a nationwide platform with over 16,000 members working to strengthen the role of women professionals in PSUs.

The discussions also covered SCOPE’s landmark study with the ILO on Work from Home (WfH) dynamics, along with various empowerment programmes aimed at creating a holistic, equitable, and enabling work environment for women employees across public sector enterprises.

The interaction provided an opportunity for the global delegation to exchange ideas and learn from India’s evolving policy and institutional frameworks that support gender equality and inclusive workforce participation.
