The Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Manoj Kumar Agarwal, visited the mines in the Block-II area on Friday and conducted a comprehensive review of mining operations, coal production, and dispatch. During the visit, he issued key operational guidelines to officials to enhance productivity while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The CMD was accompanied by General Manager (Block-II Area) Kumar Ranjeev, AGM (Block-II) P.S.K. Sinha, the Project Officer and Manager of Block-II Open Cast Project (OCP), along with other senior officials from the area and representatives from contracting companies.
During the inspection, Agarwal first reviewed the highwall mining patch of Block-II OCP, examining critical operational parameters including depth of cut, penetration rate, time taken between completion of one cut and the start of the next, and maintenance periods.

He directed the Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) and concerned officials to ensure that all preparatory work, including advance platform preparation, is completed ahead of schedule while strictly adhering to safety standards. He also emphasised maximising the availability and utilisation of highwall miners and auxiliary machinery to boost production during the remaining days of March and ensure adequate coal supply to the New Madhuban Washery.
The CMD later inspected several operational sites, including the Departmental OCP Patch of Block-II OCP, the New Nadkhurki Hired Patch, and the New Benidih Hired Patch. After reviewing the current exposure and operational status, he instructed the team to increase coal production and dispatch to achieve the daily targets set for the area. He reiterated the importance of strict compliance with safety standards and maintaining coal quality during operations.

Agarwal also visited the mobile crusher site, where he was accompanied by Karan Kumar, General Manager (E&M). Upon noticing stone fragments mixed in the crushed coal, the CMD directed officials to ensure that no stones or boulders are mixed with the coal and stressed the need for enhanced quality control measures during crushing and dispatch operations.
The visit forms part of BCCL’s efforts to accelerate production and strengthen coal supply to consumers during the closing weeks of the financial year.
