BCCL Holds Interactive Meeting with NRS Linkage and SWMA e-Auction Consumers in Dhanbad
Coal quality management was another key topic during the meeting

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, organised an interactive meeting with NRS Linkage and CIL SWMA e-Auction consumers at Annapurna Hall in Koyla Nagar, Dhanbad, aimed at promoting better coal dispatch and ensuring effective clearance of available coal stocks.
The meeting was chaired by BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agarwal and witnessed the participation of coal traders, representatives from multiple industrial sectors, and consumers associated with the company. Participants actively shared their suggestions and views during the session.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Director (Human Resources) Murli Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Technical-Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar and General Manager (Marketing & Sales) Hitesh Verma. General Managers from various areas, Area Sales Officers, representatives, and officials and employees from the Marketing & Sales Department also attended the meeting.
The programme began with the welcome of guests followed by the corporate song of Coal India. In his welcome address, GM (Marketing & Sales) Hitesh Verma highlighted the importance of such interactive platforms, noting that direct engagement with consumers helps the company better understand their expectations and improve arrangements related to coal supply, quality, and dispatch.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal reaffirmed BCCL’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of its consumers and stakeholders. He stated that ensuring transparency, providing quality coal, and maintaining timely dispatch remain key priorities for the company. Agarwal also assured participants that BCCL continues to improve facilities and processes to meet evolving consumer requirements.
During the meeting, participants discussed several important issues related to coal supply and logistics. Officials informed consumers about various provisions, facilities, and promotional initiatives being offered by BCCL. It was highlighted that the company is expanding its consumer base beyond the power sector and working to increase coal dispatch to NRS Linkage and auction consumers.
To encourage NRS consumers, BCCL is offering significant coal volumes under the NRS Linkage Auction. In the recently conducted Tranche-IX, approximately 20 million tonnes of coal were offered for different industrial sectors.
Discussions also focused on increasing coal supply to the steel sector. To enhance competitiveness and incentivise lifting, BCCL has introduced an attractive cash discount scheme under the e-Auction mechanism.
Under the scheme, discounts range from ₹100 to ₹600 per tonne depending on the quantity lifted. A discount of ₹100 per tonne is offered for lifting 500 to 4,000 tonnes (road mode) or one rake (rail mode). The discount increases progressively to ₹600 per tonne for lifting above 80,000 tonnes or more than 20 rakes. The applicable discount will be determined based on billed quantity or number of rakes and will be adjusted during the final settlement after completion of coal lifting.
Officials also discussed steps taken to streamline coal lifting. All operational areas have been instructed to ensure timely issuance of quotas and allotments to prevent delays. Coordination has been established with the District Administration and the District Mining Officer in Dhanbad to expedite approvals of mining challan permits, which are now being processed within two to three days. A digital wallet system has also been introduced to facilitate faster permit approvals.
Coal quality management was another key topic during the meeting. BCCL informed participants that all areas have been sensitised to maintain strict quality standards. Area General Managers are regularly inspecting mine faces and monitoring coal movement up to sidings to ensure quality compliance. They are also addressing issues faced by consumers during coal lifting, including challenges arising from local law-and-order situations or operational constraints.
The programme was also addressed by the Director (HR), Director (Technical-Operations), and Director (Finance), who reiterated BCCL’s commitment to maintaining high standards in coal production, quality control, and dispatch management.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective resolve to enhance coal dispatch to the steel sector while strengthening coordination and trust between the company and its consumers.
