NCL Achieves 140 MT Coal Production Target Ahead of Schedule
The milestone was accomplished on March 30, 2026, after the first shift

In a significant boost to India’s energy sector, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), the Singrauli-based flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has achieved its annual coal production target of 140 million tonnes (MT) ahead of schedule in the financial year 2025–26. The milestone was accomplished on March 30, 2026, after the first shift, underscoring the company’s operational excellence and efficiency.
With a network of 10 highly mechanized opencast mines, NCL has consistently demonstrated strong performance and reliability. The company has maintained an impressive track record of meeting its annual production targets for nearly a decade, reaffirming its position as one of the most productive coal-producing subsidiaries in the country.
NCL has emerged as a critical pillar in strengthening India’s energy security. At a time when the demand for reliable and affordable energy continues to rise, domestically produced coal has once again proven to be the backbone of the nation’s power sector. In this context, NCL’s sustained and enhanced production has played a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power plants across the country.
The management of NCL lauded the achievement and credited it to the unwavering commitment, resilience, and tireless efforts of its workforce. The contribution of stakeholders and partners was also acknowledged as a key factor in reaching this milestone ahead of schedule.
This accomplishment not only highlights NCL’s operational strength but also reinforces the broader role of Coal India Limited in supporting India’s growing energy needs and driving industrial progress.
