DGCA Deputy Director General Arrested in Rs 2.5 Lakh Bribery Case

Searches conducted at multiple locations in Delhi led to recovery of Rs 37 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver coins and several digital devices

In a significant anti-corruption action, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) along with a private sector executive in an alleged bribery case involving Rs 2.5 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Mudavath Devula, Deputy Director General in the Airworthiness Directorate at DGCA headquarters in Delhi, and Bharat Mathur.

According to the CBI, Devula allegedly demanded an undue advantage from private individuals in exchange for granting approvals and permissions related to applications pending with the aviation regulator. Acting on the complaint, the agency registered a case on Saturday and apprehended both accused, recovering the full bribe amount of Rs 2.5 lakh.

Further searches conducted at multiple locations in Delhi led to the recovery of Rs 37 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver coins and several digital devices.

The CBI stated that the investigation is ongoing.
