‘Ghar Wapsi’ Call at Pawan Hans: CMD Invites Former AMEs and Technicians to Return Amid Massive Transformation

This could be one of the first instances in the history of Indian PSUs where such a great gesture has been shown by the top management

Pawan Hans is opening its doors to former employees as the helicopter services company seeks to bring back experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) and technicians amid an ongoing transformation.

In an unusual and direct recruitment appeal, Pawan Hans Limited Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Kumar Nagdawne has invited all AMEs and technicians who previously left the company to return and join the organisation once again.

In a Social Media post, Nagdawne described the initiative as a “Ghar Wapsi” call, urging former employees to return to what he referred to as their “official home sweet home.”“All AMEs / Technicians who have left Pawan Hans due to some or other reasons are requested to come back to your official home sweet home (Pawan Hans) and join us.”

Pawan Hans promises better compensation and work environment

The CMD said the company is currently undergoing a “massive transformation” and needs experienced personnel back on board.

Nagdawne assured former AMEs and technicians that they would receive the best possible care, respect and freedom to work, along with market-driven compensation under the proposed Associated AME Scheme and Associated Technician Scheme.

The appeal signals an effort to leverage the experience of professionals who have previously worked with Pawan Hans, particularly at a time when skilled aviation maintenance personnel remain critical to helicopter operations.

‘We want you back before opening the doors to others’

The message also carries a clear sense of urgency. Former employees have been told not to miss the opportunity because Pawan Hans wants them back before opening the doors to other candidates.

The CMD wrote: “Don’t miss this chance as we want you back before opening the doors to others!!”

The approach could allow Pawan Hans to tap into an existing pool of personnel who already understand the company’s aircraft, maintenance procedures and operational environment, potentially reducing the time and resources required to recruit and familiarise new technical staff.

How former employees can apply

Pawan Hans has provided a dedicated email address for former AMEs and technicians interested in returning:

Gharwapsi@pawanhans.co.in

Alternatively, former employees can contact the CMD Secretariat, Pawan Hans Limited, through WhatsApp at 9217409001. The post specifies that the number is for WhatsApp messages only.

A significant signal from Pawan Hans

The “Ghar Wapsi” initiative is notable not merely as a recruitment drive but also as a public signal from the company’s top management that it wants to rebuild and strengthen its technical workforce.

For a helicopter operator, experienced AMEs and technicians are central to maintaining aircraft availability, safety and operational readiness. Bringing back personnel already familiar with Pawan Hans could therefore be strategically important as the company undertakes the transformation highlighted by its CMD.

The immediate question now is how many former employees respond to the call — and whether the proposed compensation and working arrangements can persuade experienced technical personnel who previously moved on to return to Pawan Hans.
