BCCL steps up efforts to meet growing power sector coal demand
CMD BCCL inspected major mines of Sijua area and Pathardih washery, gave instructions to increase production and dispatch

Under the leadership of Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), the company is making targeted efforts to meet the growing coal requirement of the power sector and improve coal dispatch.
In this sequence, the CMD visited major mines of the Sijua area and conducted a detailed review of mining operations, production, operational efficiency and coal dispatch.

Agarwal inspected the Amalgamated Sendra, Bansjora, Nichitpur, Tetulmari, Mudidih and Kanakni mines in the Sijua area. During the inspection, he reviewed ongoing mining operations and discussed production and operational issues with concerned officials.
Reviewing the operational requirements of the mines, he stressed the need to make better use of available production capacity, improve operational efficiency and increase coal dispatch.

In view of the growing demand from the power sector, BCCL is continuously reviewing coal production and dispatch to ensure adequate and timely supplies to power plants. The CMD directed regional officials to ensure effective utilisation of available resources and timely resolution of operational issues.
After inspecting the Sijua mines, the CMD visited Pathardih Washery and reviewed the dispatch of washed power coal to power plants. He directed officials to increase dispatch from the current one rake per day to three rakes per day, keeping in view the growing requirement of the power sector.

Agarwal emphasised improved coordination and operational efficiency across the entire supply chain, from production to dispatch. Regular field inspections, he said, are important for identifying operational requirements on the ground, addressing bottlenecks and optimising resource utilisation.
BCCL continues to focus on strengthening its production and dispatch systems to meet the energy requirements of the power sector. The company’s efforts are aimed at supporting the country’s energy security and ensuring adequate and timely coal supplies to power plants.
