The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has once again seized a truck loaded with coal being transported without valid documents in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district, intensifying its crackdown on illegal coal mining and transportation.

The latest action was carried out by the CISF unit deployed at NTPC-CMP, Hazaribagh, following intelligence inputs about illegal coal mining, storage and transportation in the region.

Acting on the information, CISF personnel laid an ambush near 14 Mile and Hathiyari Mor under the jurisdiction of Charhi police station. At around 10:30 pm on October 27, 2026, the ambush party spotted a trailer truck carrying coal suspected to have been mined and transported illegally.

The CISF team immediately alerted its Quick Reaction Team (QRT), which launched a pursuit. After chasing the vehicle for approximately six to seven kilometres, the team intercepted it near Ganpati Dharamkanta at Demotand, within the jurisdiction of Muffasil police station.

During the inspection, the truck driver failed to produce valid documents authorising the transportation of the coal. The vehicle was subsequently seized, and arrangements were being made to move it to the designated location for further action.

Intelligence Inputs Triggered Operation

According to intelligence received by the CISF from reliable sources, coal was allegedly being mined illegally in the Jorakanth area and stored at Dasokhap, Lotharwa and the Pandrah Mile plant area under Charhi police station.

The inputs also indicated that coal was being transported through newly developed routes to evade detection. Acting on this information, the CISF intensified surveillance and deployed personnel in vulnerable areas, leading to the interception of the truck.

CISF Steps Up Action Against Illegal Coal Trade

The latest seizure underscores the CISF’s continued efforts to curb illegal coal mining, transportation and storage in the region. The force has stepped up vigilance in areas identified as vulnerable to illicit coal-related activities.

The campaign against illegal coal operations is continuing, with surveillance and enforcement measures aimed at preventing unauthorised transportation and disrupting the network involved in the illegal coal trade.
