Public enterprise headhunter, The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) has chosen Amitava Mukherjee for the position of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited, a Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). Mukherjee, who is presently serving as the CMD (Additional Charge) and Director (Finance) at NMDC, was selected from a pool of nine candidates. His appointment as CMD, however, is subject to necessary clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Since the superannuation of former CMD Sumit Deb on January 31, 2023, the CMD role at NMDC has been handled on an interim basis. Mukherjee, as the senior-most Board member and Director (Finance), has been holding additional charge as CMD during this period.
