The programme was presided over by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who administered the pledge to officers and employees to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle

A mass oath-taking programme was organised at BCCL Headquarters under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India and the Ministry of Coal.

The programme was organised as part of the National Mass Pledge/Oath Against Drug Abuse to mark the sixth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The programme was presided over by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who administered the pledge to officers and employees to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Emphasising the need for collective participation in the fight against drug abuse, Agarwal called upon employees to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs among their families, friends and the wider community.

Director (Technical/Operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Finance) Rajesh Kumar, General Manager (Human Resources) Kumar Manoj, General Manager (Coordination) Arindam Mustafi and Department Head (Administration) Manish Mishra, along with General Managers, departmental heads, officers and employees of Koyla Bhawan, attended the programme.

All participants took the pledge to remain away from drugs and contribute towards creating awareness about drug abuse in their families and society.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal said drug abuse not only damages an individual’s physical and mental well-being but also has a wider impact on families, workplaces and society.

He stressed that building a healthy, empowered and productive society requires every citizen, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs. He urged employees to become ambassadors of the drug-free movement by creating awareness about the adverse consequences of substance abuse in their communities.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020, with the objective of reducing drug demand in the country. The campaign focuses on awareness generation, community participation and coordinated efforts to address the problem of substance abuse.

The campaign has reached millions of citizens through various awareness initiatives across the country. More than 1.25 lakh Nasha Mukti Mitras (NMMs) have also joined the campaign to strengthen community participation.

The mass oath-taking programme at Koyla Bhawan Headquarters marked another significant step by BCCL towards creating awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse and reinforcing its commitment to a healthier, safer and drug-free society.
