The life and contribution of late Ilyas Azmi, a two-time MP from Uttar Pradesh, to the society can be called an example. Two conferences are to be held in Lucknow on October 28 and in Lakhimpur on October 30 in remembrance of the late politician, writer and historian.
Ilyas Azmi, an eminent and popular personality, had always given priority to the voices of the marginalized people. The life journey of the great stalwart came to an end on June 5, 2023, who spent his life in helping the marginalized ones of the society.
To remember and highlight the contributions of this unforgettable personality, a seminar on the topic of Ilyas Azmi Hayat and Khidmaat will be organized on 28th October at Sahakaritha Bhawan located near the Legislative Assembly in Lucknow and on October 30, at Siddiqui House in Lakhimpur, on October 30.
Regarding this, his elder son and Chairman of Red Crescent Society of India and Arshad Siddiqui said that we are organizing this seminar to remember the late former Lok Sabha MP Ilyas Azmi (Abba ji) and to remind his true values to the society. Ilyas Azmi was born on 22 August 1934 in Sadarpur Barauli-Phulpur in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. He was educated as Hafiz at Roztul Oloom, Phulpur. He was a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh and successfully contested election from Shahabad Lok Sabha seat in 2004 and Kheri Lok Sabha seat in 2009 from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket.
He was also a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) but left the party in 2016.
Ilyas Azmi’s father, Mohammad Maroof who was a farmer by profession. Ilyas Azmi lived permanently in Lucknow with his family. He is survived by four sons and four daughters.
Ilyas Azmi was married to Badrunnisa and his dream was to enlighten every home through school education along with religious education. In order to realise the dreams of his father, his son Arshad Siddiqui had established BN Post Graduate College in the name of late mother, Badrunnisa, in Shahabad, District Hardoi.
Arshad Siddiqui is an known educationist and businessman, who is engaged in social service as Chairman of Red Crescent Society of India.
