CPI Resolution Supporting The Struggle Of Central Government Employees And Defence Civilian Employees Against Anti-Labour Policies Of BJP Government
The National Council of the Communist Party of India in its meeting held (today) on 30th of January, 2021 at Hyderabad extend its support and solidarity with the struggling Central Government Employees and the Defence Civilian Employees against the anti-labour policies being adopted by the BJP Government Taking advantage of the havoc wreaked by the Noval Corona Virus Pandemic on peoples life and livelihoods, the Modi Government has taken various unilateral decisions in the name of COVID-19 Relief Package.
The government during the pandemic period announced its decision to Corporatise the 41 Ordnance Factories and to Privatise the same. It is these Ordnance Factories which are playing a vital role in achieving self reliance in Defence. The economic survey submitted by the Government in the Parliament itself reveals that the Ordnance Factories have achieved more than 74% indigenisation in its products. Similarly the BJP Government has decided to convert the Railway production units in to a Corporation and then to privatize the same.
Almost all the activities of the Railways are being privatized resulting in the Railways becoming out of reach of the common man. Many government departments and establishments are being closed. Thousands of posts are abolished. At present more than 5 lakh posts are lying vacant and the Government is not in a mood to fill up all these vacant posts. To completely destroy the social justice of the reservation in Government jobs, Fixed Term Employment is getting implemented in Government Departments also. Three installments of DA which is paid for compensating the price rise has also been frozen by the Government.
The Dearness Relief due to the pensioners are also frozen for 18 months. The pension rights of the Central Government employees has been taken away by implementing the Contributory Pension Scheme namely National Pension System. Many government employees have died while performing their duty due to COVID-19 pandemic. Since, majority of them are asked to attend their duty from their work spot itself. Moreover, one day wages was also forcibly recovered from the salary of the Central Government Employees towards the PM CARES Fund. However, the Government has neither paid any compensation nor appointment to their wards on compassionate grounds.
The New labour Code has exempted the DRDO, Department of Atomic Energy and ISRO from the purview of Industry thereby keeping the employees away from the coverage of Labour Laws. The Central Government Employees are fighting against all these attacks of the Modi Government The National Joint Council of Action of the Central Government Employees have taken a decision to observe a Nation Wide Demonstration on 01st February, 2021, when the Finance Minster present the Budget before the Parliament. The Communist Party of India, extend its full support and solidarity to the struggle of the Central Government Employees and Defence Civilian Employees and urge upon the Government of India to not destroy the Government organization and to start negotiations with the Central Government Employees organization and settle their demands. The National Council Meeting of the Communist Party of India will conclude tomorrow, i.e. January 31.
