IOCL : Before Appointment Letter In Hand Official Boasted Of His Posting – Alleges NGO
Complaints sent to CBI, Petroleum Ministry and PMO, while the concerned official, Shyam Bohra denies all allegations
In a curious twist in the tale, an NGO – Anti-Corruption Foundation of India, through its National Convenor, Uday Shankar, has shot off a letter, dated January 13, 2025, to Secretary, MoPNG, alleging that the interview for appointment to the post of CEO, Indian Oil Corporation, was to be carried out on January 16, 2025. But even before the interviews were conducted and selection was made, a candidate, Shyam Bohra, publicly “declared that he is becoming the CEO of Indian Oil Foundation as Ministry Officials have already instructed IOC Management to appoint him as the CEO”.
Bohra retired as the Executive Director Coordination & Corporate Communication at Indian Oil Corporation Limited on 30 October, 2024. He worked with Retail, Sales and Corporate Communications departments of IOCL. He also served the oil behemoth PSU as State Head of Delhi & UP and Lanka IOC, IOCL’s subsidiary in Sri Lanka. Bohra as head of IOCL Lanka, is said to have obliged many top political and bureaucratic figures. Furthermore, as the head of Delhi in IOCL, he was heading the CSR of the PSU and is again, said to have obliged many tall figures during the first and second wave of Covid-19.
On being contacted by www.indianpsu.com – Shyam Bohra said “as far as I am concerned, I cannot comment on all these things. It has already been given to the investigating agency. Let them do it and it will come out whatever is there. We are not commenting on anything. Let the investigative agencies do their work. I am no one. I am just one of the persons. That is all. Nothing more than that”.
He added that there was an advertisement where I applied and there was a procedure which was followed. In any world, can anyone say that? How do I know that? Let me tell you, I have worked as an ED communication in the Indian oil also. Why I will fall into the level that…there are some people in the world who do not understand the importance of the right people”.
Now it remains to be seen what the investigating agency and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have to do in this specific case of a twist in the tale……
