NTPC Unchahar Organizes Eye Check-Up Camp
Approximately 200 villagers from Umran and surrounding villages received eye examinations during the camp
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, NTPC Unchahar, in collaboration with Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, organized a special eye check-up camp in Umran village. The camp aimed to raise awareness about eye health among the rural community and provide them with quality eye care services. Approximately 200 villagers from Umran and surrounding villages received eye examinations during the camp.
A team of experienced ophthalmologists conducted the eye examinations, which included vision testing, cataract detection, glaucoma screening, and checks for other common eye conditions. All villagers who attended the camp received free eye examinations, essential medications, and prescription glasses as needed.
During an inspection of the camp’s arrangements, Mr. Mandeep Singh Chhabra, Project Head of NTPC Unchahar, stated, “The objective of our CSR program is to improve the quality of life in our surrounding communities. This eye check-up camp is a significant step towards enabling timely detection and treatment of eye-related issues among villagers.” He emphasized NTPC Unchahar’s commitment to serving society through various CSR initiatives focusing on education, health, environmental conservation, and community development. The successful organization of this eye check-up camp exemplifies this commitment.
Ms. Ruma De Sharma, Head of Human Resources, added, “Through the eye check-up camp, we aim to provide quality health services to the residents of nearby villages. We urge all villagers to take full advantage of this camp and get their eyes checked for any potential issues.”
The villagers expressed their gratitude and praised NTPC Unchahar for this initiative. Mrs. Ramrati, a resident of Mukhra village, shared her experience, “I had been facing issues with my eyes for several days, which made it difficult for me to do sewing and embroidery. The camp provided a solution to my problem. With the medication given by the doctor, I am sure I will find relief.”
NTPC Unchahar’s eye check-up camp has played a crucial role in raising awareness about eye health within the rural community. The company plans to organize more such health camps to extend health services to a broader audience. Following this initiative, additional eye check-up camps are scheduled for June 22 in Purwara and June 24 at the Arkha Panchayat Bhavan.
The event was attended by key medical personnel including Dr. Madhu Singh, Chief Medical Officer (Jeevan Jyoti Hospital), Dr. Anil Somkunwar, Additional General Manager Medical, Dr. Disha Awasthi, Deputy General Manager Human Resources, along with hospital staff, village representatives Jitendra Singh and Ranjit Singh from Murarmau and Umran. Eye specialist Dr. Vedprakash Sinha provided examinations and consultations to all villagers present.
