RINL And FSSAI Jointly Organise Eat Right Walkathon And Eat Right Millet Mela At RINL
CMD RINL appreciated FSSAI for organizing the Eat Right –Millet Mela at RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant premises.
Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL inaugurated the Eat Right Millet Mela by lighting the lamp in the presence of Dr. Arul Anand K A., Joint Director/ Designated Officer (Central Licensing) – Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu, FSSAI, Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, Principal, Southern International Hotel Management Academy, Smt. S. Sujatha Srinivas, CEO, Q1 International Foods, Shri. S.V. Ramana, MD & CEO, Visakha Dairy and Shri. G Sambasivarao, MD, Sravan Shipping Services Private Limited at Multipurpose hall of Ukkunagaram Club of RINL, today.
Eat Right Millet Mela was jointly organized by RINL in association with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Visakhapatnam Branch office.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL said that “Over the past few years, the healthy food revolution has given way to discover the value of traditional millets. Especially with the increasing health consciousness among people, there has been a rise in the demand of nutrient rich cereals like millets.”
“India is known as the second largest diabetes capital of the world, and this has led to the surge in the demand of millets. Millets are enriched with the goodness of nature, fibre, minerals like magnesium, phosphorous, iron, calcium, zinc and potassium. Millets are not only healthy but at the same time they have a unique taste”, Shri Atul Bhatt added.

Clad in dress studded with millets, Miss Girvani, 2nd standard, srishti world school, ukkunagaram won the appreciation of Shri Atul Bhatt and entire audience with her extempore speech about the importance of use of millets for a better health.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has declared 2023 as “International Year of Millet” #IYM2023 as proposed by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. All Ministries and Departments of Government of India are mandated to take up activities, events and initiatives to promote and popularize use of millets. In order to promote and popularize the use of millets and to nudge consumer’s behavior towards right eating practices, RINL along with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has organised Eat Right Millet Mela to propagate the message of “Eat Right India – “Eat Safe… Eat Healthy… Eat Sustainable”.
Earlier in the day, Shri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial) and Shri SC Pandey, Director (Personnel) of RINL flagged off the Eat Right Walkathon at Ukku Club premises wherein more than 1000 participants of different age groups participants from various walks of life raised slogans about use of Millets in the daily diet of every individual for the improvement of health.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial), RINL spoke about importance of daily walk and use of millets for improvement in health.
Shri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial), Shri SC Pandey, Director (Personnel), RINL also participated in the Walkathon which started at Ukkunagaram Club covering Sector-5, Sector-1, CWC-1, Sector-6 for about 3 km.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arul Anand K A, Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, Smt. S. Sujatha Srinivas, Shri S.V. Ramana, and Shri. G Sambasivarao spoke about importance of usage of millets in the daily life of every individual and thanked RINL and FSSAI for organizing a very useful program towards a better health of every citizen.
Later in the evening, Shri KH Prakash, CGM (M&HS) RINL addressed the gathering in the valedictory and gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted both online and on the spot LIKE Rangoli, Live cooking competitions.
Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL inaugurated an exhibition comprising of 26 exhibition stalls set up under various categories like : Local Eateries (Millet Based Meals),PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food Processing Enterprises)/ MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) aided Food Business Operators, Large manufacturing food businesses and Academic/ Research Institutions as part of the “Eat Right- Millet Mela” in the sprawling lawns of Ukkunagaram club of RINL.
