Steel Executive Federation of India And RINL Top Brass Discuss Problems Related To The Steel PSU
Steel Officers Union has called for a 12-hour merger initiative tomorrow
Steel Executive Federation of India Chairman Narendra Kumar Banchore, General Secretary Mr. Abacus Mallick, Bhilai Steel Plant Officers Association General Secretary Parvinder Singh and members of the SEFI Executive Committee visited Visakha Steel Plant.
On this occasion Atul Bhatt, Chairman cum Managing Director of Visakha Steel (RINL) and Directors Dr. Pandey, GVN Prasad Ganesh, appreciated that the Visakha Steel Plant has an excellent layout and is suitable for expansion to 20 million tonnes. They also discussed the problems of Visakha Steel Plant (RINL) and steel sector problems.
The Steel Executive Federation of India and the National Conference of Officers Association discussed at length and informed that the permanent solution is to re-merge Visakha Steel, which was separated in 1982, into Steel Authority of India Limited. He reminded that for the last three years Visakhapatnam Steel Officers Association, Steel Executive Federation of India and National Confederation of Officers Association (NCOA), have repeatedly requested the top officials of the Central Government and all the concerned ministers including the Prime Minister.
The main obstacle to this is the absurd provision in the policy of the new public sector companies, which is to keep the steel sector as a non-strategic sector, and to recognize the steel sector as a priority sector, which is the most important for the development of the country, then Visakha Steel in Steel Authority of India Limited.
It was requested that the merger would be possible as per the new steel policy the country’s production capacity of 160 million tonnes has been directed to 300 million tonnes in the next 10 years and accordingly the Steel Authority of India Limited should be expanded with 1,10,000 crores from its own funds in the next five years.
Over the years Steel Authority of India Limited will face serious problems like Visakha Steel, otherwise Visakha Steel should be merged with Nagar Nor NNDC Steel in Steel Authority of India Limited. He said that as the main demand of the Steel Officers Union has called for a 12-hour merger initiative tomorrow, Sunday, he has come to participate in that initiative. On this occasion, along with the working group members of Steel Officers Association, all Visakha Steel employees were requested to participate in this program. Visakha Steel Officers Association President Katam Chandra Rao, General Secretary KVD Prasad, Vice President Chandra Venkateswara Rao, Joint Secretary Narasimha and many working group members participated in this meeting.
