Uttarakhand CM Dhami Meets Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh
Requested to give defense estate land to the state government to develop parking facility in Nainital
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and congratulated and wished him on behalf of the entire people of the state on getting the responsibility of the Defense Ministry again.
The Chief Minister requested the Defence Minister to give consent for making available the land of Defence Estates Department at Nainital to the State Government for development of parking facilities keeping in view the convenience of tourists/devotees coming from India and abroad to the tourist city of Nainital.
The Chief Minister said that at present Nainital has become important not only from tourism point of view but also from religious/spiritual point of view. The number of devotees visiting the world famous Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj’s ashram Shri Kainchi Dham in Nainital district is increasing tremendously. Devotees visiting Kainchi Dham stay in Nainital or the areas near Nainital.
To solve the parking problem in Nainital to a great extent, the main option considered was that at a distance of 2 km from Naini Lake in Nainital city, there is land of Defence Estate Department, which has an area of 03 acres. If this land is made available for parking, then the problem of parking arrangement in Nainital will be solved to a great extent. If this place is developed as a multi-storey parking, then about 1500-2000 vehicles will be able to be parked here.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of all possible cooperation.
