Uttarakhand Will Be The First State In The Country To Implement Yoga Policy – CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requests Central Government to open All India Ayurveda Institute in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the state government is working towards implementing the country’s ‘first yoga policy’. The yoga policy will play an important role in bringing a new revolution in the field of health by bringing Ayurveda and yoga together on a wide scale.

Addressing the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024 organized at Parade Ground on Thursday, Chief Minister Dhami thanked Prime Minister Modi for organizing this event in Dehradun and said that it is a matter of pride for us that representatives from more than 50 countries and more than 6000 experts are participating in this program being organized in our state. More than 250 stalls set up in the expo are giving evidence of the acceptance of Ayurveda at the global level.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this conference will promote mutual knowledge sharing and various research works in the field of Ayurveda as well as new opportunities for cooperation and business. Giving information about the work being done by the state government in the field of AYUSH, he said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is also continuously working for the promotion of Ayurveda in the state. At present, 300 AYUSH based ‘Ayushman Arogya Kendras’ are being operated in our state. AYUSH consultation is being provided by more than 70 experts through e-Sanjeevani portal. Now 50-bed and 10-bed AYUSH hospitals are being established in each district. Apart from this, the government is trying to promote the production of Ayurvedic herbs by establishing one village in each district as a model AYUSH village. The Chief Minister said that the state government has implemented the ‘Uttarakhand AYUSH Policy’ to accelerate the production of AYUSH manufacturing, wellness, education, research and medicinal plants. Along with this, the state government is working with commitment to start AYUSH tele-consultation as well as establish 50 new yoga and wellness centers in the coming years.

Proposal for All India Ayurveda Institute in Uttarakhand

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government has requested the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India to establish the All India Institute of Ayurveda in Uttarakhand, this institute will prove to be a milestone in the field of Ayurveda education and research. The Chief Minister called upon the experts and said that along with the Hindi names of our herbs, the English names should also be promoted. This will facilitate the access of local herbs to the global market. The Chief Minister said that in the hills we know ‘Kilmode’ but most people do not know its English name ‘Beriberi’s’, whereas the whole world knows this name and medicines are made from it. Therefore, the English name should also be promoted.

Uttarakhand is the land of wisdom of Ayurveda

The Chief Minister said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has been the land of wisdom of Ayurveda and medicinal wealth since ancient times. The medicinal herbs found in our state have played an important role in establishing Ayurveda as the basic element of health. He said that Ayurveda is such a unique medical system of the world which has been ensuring the health of human civilization since ancient times. Ayurveda is not limited to herbs and medicines only, but Ayurveda is a unique art of living. It tells us about the right lifestyle, its purpose is not only to cure diseases but its ultimate goal is to prevent the disease from occurring. The Chief Minister said that various programs like ‘National Ayush Mission’ and ‘Prakriti Pariksha Abhiyan’ run by the Central Government are playing an important role in establishing health from cities to villages today. After formally inaugurating the expo, the Chief Minister also inspected the stalls.

Ayurvedic medicines will be available under one roof

Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Pratap Rao Jadhav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the initiatives taken in the field of AYUSH during the last ten years have led to an eight-fold increase in the production of AYUSH products. Now AYUSH and herbal products are being exported to more than 150 countries of the world. He said that Ayurveda is also moving forward by adopting technology like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning tools. Jadhav said that in India people generally prefer treatment with Ayurveda, but even in rural areas doctors mostly recommend allopathic medicines. This probably happens because there are very few medicines of Ayurveda, and it is almost impossible to get all the medicines for all diseases at one place. Therefore, the Central Government is trying to establish AYUSH medicine centers at all district, tehsil and village levels to provide all the medicines of Ayurveda under one roof. The first such center has been started in the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi. With the opening of such centers across the country, Ayush doctors will be able to prescribe medicines easily after consultation. He said that the World Ayurveda Congress will prove to be a confluence of new ideas, ancient culture and innovations. The Union Minister said that thousands of people from nearby areas will visit the stalls here during this four-day event. This event also provides a platform for business opportunities. He said that to promote Ayurveda, the Central Government has started the Prakriti Pariksha Abhiyan from October 29 across the country, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary in the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, said that organizing the World Ayurveda Conference not only helps in establishing the AYUSH system’s identity at the global level, but also increases the growth of this sector around the region where the event is held. Describing Uttarakhand as an ideal state for this event, he said that many herbs mentioned in the books of Ayurveda are found in the Himalayas.

PM Narendra Modi’s Message Read Out

Chief Secretary, Radha Raturi, read out the message sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the conference. The inaugural session was also addressed by National Organizing Secretary, Vigyan Bharati Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chairperson of the 10th World Ayurveda Congress Vaidya PM Warrior, Secretary AYUSH in Uttarakhand Government Ravinath Raman.
