Will Russia beat all with the first Corona Vaccine?
While almost all nations are seeking to outdo each other in giving relief to the world with a vaccination against deadly Corona, Russia, for the moment seems to have an edge over others. Russia has announced that it is going to start mass produce the Corona vaccine from next month. Russia also announced last month that it had successfully completed a human trial of the vaccine and it aims to produce ‘several million’ doses per month by next year.
According to officials, trial of Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Russia, has reached the advanced stage. Russia’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Denis Manturov has confirmed that they are hoping to start production of vaccine on a large scale from September.
He said, “We will be able to produce a large-scale corona vaccine by early next year.” By the beginning of next year, we will also be in a position to increase it by several millions. It further said that a developer is preparing its production technology at three locations in Central Russia.
Kirill Dimitrov, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the company financing the operations, said that they expect the official registration of the Kovid-19 vaccine to be completed within ten days. He further explained that if this happens in the next ten days, then Russia will be ahead of the United States and other countries as this would be the world’s first registered corona virus vaccine.
This vaccine was prepared by the Moscow-based Russian government company Gamaleya Institute in April and Russia was working very silently on the project. It had begun the first phase of the human trial on the vaccine in June itself.
According to a Sputnik report, initially labs in Moscow were experimenting on two different types of vaccines, one as a liquid and the other as a powder. The initial trial consisted of two groups, each consisting of 38 participants.
Some of them were vaccinated, while some were placed under the Plasibo effect. That is, giving them something simple, but they thought they were being administered medicine.
After this, the Russian Medical University of Russia, Sechnoff, conducted two trials in July itself and the participants have already been discharged from the hospital.
