CCL-CISF Crackdown on Illegal Coal: 99.70 Tonnes of Raw Coal Seized in Hazaribagh
Action follows intelligence inputs on unauthorised coal storage in forest areas, with authorities moving to identify those behind the activity
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) carried out a joint operation against illegal coal mining and transportation in the Hazaribagh area, seizing 99 tonnes and 70 kg of illegally stored raw coal from two locations.
The operation was conducted following information about illegal coal being stored in forest areas around Lakri-Chowki and other locations. Acting on the information, a team comprising personnel from CCL’s security department and CISF conducted raids at the identified sites.
The joint team reportedly began the operation at around 11 am. During the action, illegally extracted coal was found stored at two separate locations. A total of 99.70 tonnes of raw coal was recovered and seized.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of the CISF Assistant Commandant and CCL security officials, with personnel from the concerned project and security departments participating in the action. The team also inspected the sites and took steps to prevent further illegal mining and transportation.
Officials said the seized coal was handed over to the concerned authorities for further action. The operation continued until around 5 pm, after which the recovered coal was secured.
The authorities have indicated that action against those involved in illegal coal mining, storage and transportation will continue. Officials also said that strict legal action would be initiated against those found responsible.
The joint operation highlights the increasing focus by CCL and CISF on curbing illegal coal mining and unauthorised coal transportation in the region. Authorities have warned that further action will be taken against individuals involved in such activities.
