Mumbai’s Pod Taxi Boosts Hope for Jewar Airport–Noida Film City Link

Pod Taxi corridor can offer seamless elevated connectivity between airport terminals, hotels, commercial hubs and Film City

Mumbai’s decision to launch India’s first last-mile Pod Taxi project in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) has strengthened the possibility of a similar futuristic transit system between Jewar Airport and the upcoming Noida Film City.

The Maharashtra government recently performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the 8.85-km AI-enabled driverless Pod Taxi corridor in Mumbai’s BKC, designed to provide fast, congestion-free and eco-friendly commuter movement through battery-operated automated pods.

Infrastructure planners believe this model can be replicated in other emerging smart urban corridors, especially the Yamuna Expressway belt where Noida International Airport and Noida Film City are coming up as two mega projects.

With expected heavy movement of air passengers, film professionals, tourists and business travellers, a Pod Taxi corridor can offer seamless elevated connectivity between airport terminals, hotels, commercial hubs and Film City.

Sources say Mumbai’s successful rollout has made the concept more acceptable for policy makers in Uttar Pradesh, where traffic demand is projected to rise sharply after Jewar Airport becomes operational.

If implemented, passengers landing at Jewar Airport could reach Noida Film City in a matter of minutes through driverless pods running on dedicated elevated tracks, reducing dependence on road transport and giving the region a world-class smart mobility system.

The Jewar–Film City belt is increasingly being seen as one of the strongest candidates for North India’s first autonomous Pod Taxi corridor.
