IIM Jammu Launches Mid-Career Leadership Programme for SAIL Young Managers
The programme brings together 52 participants from various SAIL plants across India for an intensive learning experience

Indian Institute of Management Jammu has commenced the fourth batch of its Mid-Career Leadership Development Training Programme for young managers of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), reinforcing its commitment to executive education and industry–academia collaboration.
The programme brings together 52 participants from various SAIL plants across India for an intensive learning experience focused on managerial competencies, peer learning, and leadership development.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research), while Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager (Academic), Central HRD & Senior Faculty at SAIL’s Management Training Institute (MTI), joined virtually.
Programme Directors Dr. Prakrit Silal, Dr. Lalit Pankaj, and Dr. Pranjal Pachpore were also present.
The session began with registration followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the start of a transformative learning journey.
Addressing participants, Dr. Mukherjee highlighted SAIL’s emphasis on strengthening managerial capabilities and building a robust leadership pipeline. He encouraged participants to cascade their learning within their respective units and contribute to internal knowledge platforms through articles and insights.
Prof. Jabir Ali stressed the importance of unlearning and relearning in dynamic managerial environments. He urged participants to actively engage in discussions, embrace case-based learning, and co-create knowledge alongside faculty.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-chairperson (Executive Education & Consultancy), outlined the programme’s three-phase structure, refined through participant feedback. He emphasised cross-functional exposure, peer learning, and the institute’s expanding role in consultancy and executive training.
In his welcome address, Dr. Lalit Pankaj detailed the curriculum, noting that it integrates strategy, human resource management, and allied domains, complemented by project-based learning for practical application.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Prakrit Silal, followed by the National Song and Anthem, a group photograph, and a tea break.
The programme underscores IIM Jammu’s continued efforts to foster future-ready leadership through immersive executive education and stronger industry linkages.
