Dalmia Bharat Foundation Launches Rug Loom Centre To Empower Rural Women In Ramgarh

Initiative to promote entrepreneurship and skill development in traditional carpet weaving

In a transformative initiative aimed at empowering rural women, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the CSR arm of Dalmia Bharat Group, in collaboration with Jaipur Rugs Foundation, has launched a Rug Loom Centre in Gopalpur village, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative, part of the Foundation’s flagship Gram Parivartan Project, will train 64 women from four villages—Rampur, Gopalpur, Gomidapur and Ashrafnagar—in the traditional craft of hand-knotted rug weaving.

The centre will provide the necessary skill training, with Dalmia Bharat Foundation supporting the initiative by providing handlooms. Jaipur Rugs Foundation will assist in marketing and selling the finished products, ensuring economic stability and sustainable livelihoods for the artisans. This project will empower women to earn a sustainable income, with an expected monthly income of ₹8,000 to ₹10,000.

The centre was inaugurated by A.A. Beig, DY Executive Director and Unit Head – Ramgarh, Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries Limited* alongwith the CSR team, Gram Pradhan & artisans.

The Gram Parivartan Project is a flagship initiative of the Dalmia Bharat Foundation aimed at transforming rural communities through sustainable and holistic development. The project seeks to empowers rural households by driving skill development, entrepreneurship, and access to government welfare schemes through targeted household-level interventions.
