Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) conducted a multi-agency joint mock drill at its Khoraghat Gas Gathering Station (GGS) under the Jorhat Asset in Assam on Tuesday, simulating an armed terrorist attack and hostage situation to assess emergency response preparedness and strengthen the security of critical energy infrastructure.

The exercise brought together personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Assam Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and the District Administration.

The simulated scenario was designed to assess the readiness of security agencies and emergency responders to deal with a potential terrorist threat, manage a hostage situation and coordinate an effective response to a security emergency at a critical energy installation.

The joint drill also provided an opportunity to evaluate inter-agency coordination, communication and operational preparedness in responding to potential threats to ONGC’s personnel and infrastructure.

Strengthening Critical Infrastructure Security

The exercise underscored the importance of coordinated action among central security forces, state police, intelligence agencies and district authorities in safeguarding strategically important energy installations.

With energy infrastructure playing a vital role in India’s economic and industrial security, regular mock drills are essential to assess response mechanisms and ensure preparedness for unforeseen emergencies.

ONGC reiterated its commitment to protecting its workforce and operational assets through vigilance, preparedness and coordinated security measures.

The exercise concluded with a renewed emphasis on inter-agency cooperation and the need for sustained readiness to address emerging security challenges.
