5 Days Banking Sangharsh Morcha Takes Out Candle March To Get It Implemented

United Form of Bank Unions (UFBU) and Indian Banks Association (IBA) have agreed to extend 5-day banking

5 Days Banking Sangharsh Morcha of bank employees, today, organized a candle march from Jantar Mantar to Financial Services Department, Sansad Marg, demanding 5 days banking. A memorandum was also submitted to the Secretary, Financial Services Department for early implementation of 5 day banking.

At present, second and fourth Saturdays are closed in banks. This two-day holiday came into effect from 1.9.2015. Bank employees have been demanding 5 days banking for a long time. Even before 2015, bank employees had the same demand, but due to lack of agreement on extending working hours on the remaining days of the week, 5-day banking could not be implemented and only the second and fourth Saturdays could be declared as holidays.

But even after that the bank employees are continuously demanding for 5 days. International Banking, Reserve Bank, NABARD and LIC also have a 5 day week. While the efficiency of employees increases with 5 days a week, the expenses of banks also reduces.

Even after the United Form of Bank Unions (UFBU) and Indian Banks Association (IBA) have agreed to extend 5-day banking and working hours on the remaining days of the week in February 2023, why is this not being implemented, asked Ashwani Rana, Founder of Voice of Banking and demanded that 5-day banking should be implemented immediately.
