NTPC Bongaigaon Expands Support For Arohan Scheme, An Initiative By Government Of Assam
Introduces mentorship program for meritorious students in association with District Administration Kokrajhar and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club

Reinforcing its commitment to education and youth empowerment, NTPC Bongaigaon, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has expanded its support for the Arohan Scheme, an initiative by the Government of Assam, by introducing a mentorship program for meritorious students in association with District Administration, Kokrajhar and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club of the station.
As part of this initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon recently distributed educational kits to top-performing Class IX students (No.1 of the class) from 96 government schools across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). While distributing the kits, Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (ER-II), addressed the students and emphasized the importance of perseverance, hard work, and knowledge in shaping a successful future. He encouraged them to dream big, stay committed to their goals, and utilize every opportunity to expand their learning horizons. Sinha further reaffirmed NTPC’s dedication to promoting educational excellence and skill development among young minds, particularly in remote areas like BTR and North East India.

The event was also attended by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, and Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC Bongaigaon who blessed the students for their future life. The distribution ceremony was attended by Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), A Biswas, GM (Operation). Dr. Deepayan Paul, CMO,NTPC Bongaigaon, Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), Paresh Mathur, AGM (TS), Dhrubajyoti Das, ACS, Asst. Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Soumya Kar, Vice President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, Jhumita Biswas, Senior Member, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club and officials of HR and CSR wing of the power station and Education Department .Smt. Rupali Sinha, President, Vasudha Mahila Mandal, ER-II, in her address, highlighted the transformative power of education in shaping lives. She encouraged students, especially young girls, to pursue their aspirations with confidence and determination. She emphasized that initiatives like the Arohan Scheme, supported by NTPC, aim to bridge educational gaps and provide students with the right exposure and mentorship needed to succeed in life. Earlier, the students also visited the Waste to Wealth Replica of NTPC Bongaigaon and a Selfie Point, where Shri Bonthu Balaji, DGM (BMD), explained the mechanism of coal-to-power generation, enhancing their understanding of the energy sector.

In the coming days, NTPC Bongaigaon will allocate mentors from its engineering, management, and medical professionals to guide students, offering them career insights and professional exposure. The Arohan Scheme, initiated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, is a flagship mentor-mentee program designed to identify and nurture academically bright students from government schools. By aligning with this vision, NTPC Bongaigaon’s mentorship initiative will provide structured guidance, career counseling, and skill-building sessions, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to achieve their aspirations.
