Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Unveils Vision for India Energy Week 2026
The Minister also highlighted strategic shipbuilding collaborations between global maritime giants and leading Indian PSU majors

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, on Tuesday addressed a curtain-raiser press conference for India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, outlining India’s strategic vision for energy security, energy transition, and global cooperation. The minister also highlighted as to how the stature of India Energy Week has grown since its start in 2023 to this year- 2026
Highlighting the growing stature of India Energy Week as a premier global platform, the Minister said IEW-2026 will bring together world leaders, policymakers, industry captains, and innovators to deliberate on the future of the global energy ecosystem. He noted that the event reflects India’s leadership role in shaping balanced, inclusive, and sustainable energy pathways.
Puri emphasised that India’s energy transition will follow a pragmatic and calibrated approach, ensuring affordability, reliability, and accessibility while steadily expanding the share of cleaner fuels. He underlined that conventional energy sources, including oil and gas, will continue to play a critical role alongside renewables in supporting economic growth and energy stability.
The Minister highlighted that strategic shipbuilding collaborations between global maritime giants and leading Indian PSU majors are expected to emerge as a major attraction of India Energy Week 2026, reflecting India’s growing capabilities in maritime infrastructure, energy logistics, and industrial manufacturing. He said such partnerships would support India’s ambitions in energy transportation, LNG logistics, offshore assets, and green shipping.
Puri also underscored India’s focus on energy security through diversification of supply sources, robust infrastructure development, and policy reforms aimed at attracting domestic and global investment. He said India is envisaging significant investments in energy infrastructure over the coming decade, creating opportunities across exploration, refining, pipelines, gas, biofuels, hydrogen, renewables, and allied sectors.
Touching upon technology, the Minister said innovation — including the application of artificial intelligence and digital solutions — will be central to improving efficiency, safety, and sustainability across the energy value chain.
Reiterating India’s commitment to an equitable energy transition, Puri said the country’s approach balances climate responsibility with developmental priorities, ensuring energy access for all while contributing meaningfully to global climate goals.
India Energy Week 2026 is expected to serve as a key forum for dialogue, collaboration, and partnerships, reinforcing India’s role as a trusted and influential player in the global energy landscape.
