Colourful Pongal Celebrations At Delhi Public School, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant

Delhi Public School celebrated the vibrant harvest festival of Pongal with great joy and zeal at its sprawling campus in Ukkunagaram of Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant, today.
The chief guest, Dr. S C Pandey Director (Personnel) RINL VSP inaugurated the celebrations with the traditional ceremony of lighting of lamp followed by a mesmerizing cultural program. The program revolved around the theme of Pedda Panduga, emphasizing the significance of Pongal as a harvest festival. The celebrations spanned over three days, encompassing the traditional functions of Bogi, Sankranti and Kannuma.
Each day brought forth unique cultural performances, traditional dances, songs, and rituals, showcasing the rich heritage and customs associated with Pongal. Dr. Suresh Chandra Pandey also released the annual school magazine, Aurora Australis, a magazine which encapsulated the creativity, achievements, and spirit of the school, making it a treasured addition to the celebration.
In his address, the Principal Samir Kumar Pandey gave a brief introduction of the magazine, highlighting it’s significance and creative efforts of the students and staff involved in its production. Dr. Suresh Chandra Pandey in his speech appreciated the school for upholding the cultural values and tradition through its various celebrations. He commended the efforts of the school in instilling a sense of pride in India’s rich heritage among students, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering cultural awareness. Students, teachers, and parents came together to make the event a grand success, reflecting the school’s commitment to preserving and promoting cultural values. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving everyone with cherished memories of the vibrant Pongal festivities.
Ch SriLeela Srinivas, DGM (F&A), Padma Ranjan Roy, Senior Manager (TA), along with teachers and staff, enthusiastically participated in the Pongal celebrations, showcasing vibrant festive spirits.
