Heatwave Impact: Zoo And Nature Safaris In Rajgir To Open From 6 AM Amid Rising Temperatures

New timings effective today to safeguard tourists and wildlife

In light of the escalating temperatures and forecasted loo winds across Bihar — particularly at the historic tourist destination of Rajgir — authorities have decided to alter the timings for the Zoo Safari and Nature Safari. Beginning Thursday, the safaris will now operate from 6 AM to 2 PM, with entry permitted only until 12 noon.

This change has been announced in a joint order issued by Divisional Forest Officer Rajkumar M and Zoo Safari Director Ram Sundar M, and will remain in effect until further notice.

The decision comes after Rajgir recorded 40°C earlier this week, with the Bihar Meteorological Centre predicting that temperatures may climb even higher in the coming days, accompanied by the likelihood of loo winds — hot, dry winds known to increase health risks.

Officials emphasized that the new schedule is a preventive step to protect both visitors and wildlife from the adverse effects of the heatwave. As in previous years, tourists will be offered the opportunity to explore the safaris during the cooler early morning hours.

Authorities also urged tourists to take necessary precautions, such as wearing protective clothing, staying hydrated, and avoiding direct sun exposure during their visits.

The Rajgir Zoo Safari, one of the most modern safari experiences in the country, continues to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists, even during the summer season.
