NBCC Official Arrested By CBI On Bribery Charges

PSU official nabbed red-handed while taking Rs. 5 lakhs from a contractor

Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) has arrested a DGM of NBCC Limited while demanding and accepting an undue advantage of Rs. 5 lakh, a portion of Rs. 11.40 lakh bribe demanded by accused from the complainant. The accused has been identified as Varun Popli.

The complainant who is executing a construction project at Leh had submitted a written complaint against the DGM alleging therein that the said DGM was demanding an undue advantage of Rs. 7.40 lakh for allowing a contract item. During verification of the complaint, the accused DGM demanded higher undue advantage of Rs. 11.40 lakh. As such, CBI registered a case against said accused.

A trap was laid by the CBI and the said DGM of NBCC Limited was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting an undue advantage of Rs. 5 lakh as against the demanded amount of Rs. 11.40 lakh.

Accused DGM was arrested and would be produced before the Court of Competent jurisdiction at Delhi today.

Search was carried out at the residential premises of accused at Delhi.

Investigation is underway.
