With the interview rescheduled on 26th February, it’s an opportunity for PNGRB to break the monopoly of GAIL as both existing members are formerly from GAIL. In all, eleven candidates have been shortlisted for this interview.
By changing the rules from deputation to lien, major non-members officers of PNGRB also have came on deputation GAIL only.
Prabal Basu and Sukla Mistry are considered to be the front runner being Ex Chairman Balmer Lawrie and Director of major player IOC respectively. Prabal Basu is understood to have a good networking skills which is making a chance, though have experience in Mini Ratna PSU only.
Sukla Mistry, an metallurgy Engineer l, having diversified experience of Refineries Project as well as head of critical Digboi and Barauni Refineries, before becoming Director of Country’s largest refiners (IOCL). She is leant to be a hard worker and tough task master. If selected, it will an opportunity to have women member in PNGRB board as well.
S K Jha is another option with versatile experience in pipelines and CGD, presently handling CGD business of IndianOil. He is the Chairman IOAGPL, another major player of CGD in the country. Sh Jha has been handling PNGRB related issues of IOCL since long and as such is well conversant with the PNGRB Act and Regulations. Only negative for him is that he is not having board position, as per past presidence.
Another Chairman of Balmer Lawerie Adika Ratan Sekhar too have applied but has the same limitation that Balmer Lawerie have no role or coordination with PNGRB.
Another women candidate in the race is ONGC’s retired Director (F), Pomila Jaspal. However, non technical background is going against her.
